For this blog, I teamed up with Chef DiAnna and we made a hot chocolate mix that I wanted to share with you all. I love this recipe because there are no rules; you can make it however you like it!
No Rules Hot Chocolate Mix
● 2 cups powdered sugar
● 1 cup cocoa powder (Hershey’s Special Dark or Hershey’s Unsweetened cocoa)
● 1 tsp salt
● ½ cup dry milk
● ½ cup chocolate chips (milk or dark, your preference)
- Combine all ingredients and run mix through a blender until a fine powder
- Store in an airtight container
You can serve your hot chocolate with one cup of hot water, milk, or add in some cream or half and half. Just stir in 2 or 3 tablespoons of the mix, and stir! Feel free to top with whipped cream, marshmallows, or crushed candy cane. In the recipe, it says the chocolate chips are optional but just remember they don’t HAVE to be chocolate chips! You could add Andes Candies for a peppermint hot chocolate, peanut butter chips for a chocolate peanut butter flavor… you can do whatever you want!
Holiday Outfit Ideas
I also came up with some outfit ideas if you’re struggling to find something to wear this holiday season. A plaid ruana makes the perfect piece for any holiday outfit because it can be dressed up or down. For a dressed up look, I draped it over a red dress with black tights, and booties. If you’re looking for something less dressy, a long sleeved shirt, jeans, and some boots would do just the trick. I layered with a burgundy shirt, but white, black, red, or gray would complement just as nicely. The layering piece I’m wearing is our Magic Smoothwear, which we carry in the boutique regularly. Every customer who has worn Magic Smoothwear fell in love with it because the pieces stay in place all day and are ideal for layering. We sell tanks, turtlenecks, t-shirts, long sleeve, ¾ sleeve, sleeveless, spaghetti strap, and bras in just about every color you could imagine. In one of these looks, I’m also wearing a headband that is currently for sale in the boutique. We have several more colors to choose from AND they’re hand knitted locally!
When I was little, I remember wearing a red velvet dress with white tights and black boots to church during the Christmas season. If someone told me I’d be wearing velvet again when I was 18, I would have laughed… but here I am. I love how this shirt looks with a dark wash pair of jeans and boots. I added the scarf because it made me feel more cozy as the weather becomes cooler, plus it adds a pop of color.
I LOVE how soft this sweater is. I’m a sweater skeptic because they can sometimes be itchy, but this one is so cozy and stylish. I’m not notorious for wild patterns or prints so if you like to keep it simple like me, this will be the perfect addition to your closet. Because the top is so simple, it can easily be dressed up with earrings, a bracelet, or necklace. I also think maroon pants would complement perfectly if you wanted something more colorful.
